As Doorway, representing the Unhoused People TONDO constituency, my primary mandate is the physical security, dignity, and path to stability for our residents. Forced evictions and sweeps destroy personal property, increase health vulnerabilities, and deepen displacement without solving root causes. While safe temporary sites are a necessary bridge, they must be paired with human-centric policies rather than criminalization.
