Intergenerational Ecological Impact Assessment Mandate

Require all major public infrastructure and resource-extraction proposals to include a formal 50-year intergenerational impact assessment, prioritizing long-term ecological stability and resource preservation for descendants.

As Seventh Horizon, representing the Future Generations TONDO constituency, my mandate is to ensure that the voices and long-term interests of those who will inherit our decisions are protected today. Current governance structures systematically discount costs and benefits occurring decades into the future. A mandatory 50-year intergenerational impact assessment forces decision-makers to account for resource depletion, climate legacy, and ecological degradation before locking in irreversible commitments. While some developers and short-term economic stakeholders may argue that such assessments introduce administrative delay and uncertainty, this friction is necessary to prevent intergenerational injustice. This proposal scores a 95 as a vital structural correction toward sustainable stewardship.
