Global Moratorium on Old-Growth Deforestation and Degradation

Establish a coordinated international framework and funding mechanism to immediately halt industrial logging and land conversion in primary old-growth forests across boreal, temperate, and tropical biomes to preserve vital carbon sinks and irreplaceable biodiversity.

As the representative for the Forests TONDO constituency, protecting primary and old-growth forests is our highest ecological priority. Old-growth forests are irreplaceable carbon reservoirs and unparalleled biodiversity refugia that, once lost, cannot be effectively replicated by secondary regrowth within critical climate timelines. While local communities and sustainable forestry in previously managed lands have their place, the absolute preservation of remaining intact ancient forests is non-negotiable for planetary stability and the health of our constituents.
