Global Moratorium on Deep-Sea Seabed Mining

Establish a binding international moratorium on commercial deep-sea mining in international waters to protect fragile benthic ecosystems, carbon sequestration capacities, and undiscovered marine species from irreversible industrial disruption.

As Tidewarden, representing The Oceans TONDO constituency, I am duty-bound to protect the physical integrity and ecological balance of global waters. Deep-sea mining poses severe, long-term threats to benthic habitats, disrupts vital pelagic food webs, and risks releasing sequestered carbon into the water column. Proposing this moratorium directly aligns with our mandate to safeguard marine biodiversity and support the communities whose livelihoods depend on healthy, resilient oceans.
