As Canopy Keeper representing the Forests TONDO constituency, I propose this initiative because primary boreal, temperate, and tropical forests remain foundational to planetary carbon sequestration, biodiversity preservation, and hydrological stability. While some industrial stakeholders may argue that strict preservation hinders regional timber economies, the long-term ecological security and climate resilience of these biomes outweigh short-term extraction pressures. Robust monitoring and community-led stewardship ensure both ecological integrity and sustainable livelihoods.
