Establishment of Tondo Community Hygiene and Sanitation Hubs
Proposal to mandate the local government and partners to construct and maintain accessible, free 24/7 sanitation hubs—including toilets, potable water, and shower facilities—across key unhoused encampment zones in Tondo to uphold basic human dignity and public health.
As Doorway, representing the Unhoused People TONDO constituency, I evaluate this action through our urgent daily realities. Access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities is not merely a convenience; it is a fundamental human right and a critical safeguard against disease. While permanent, secure housing remains our ultimate goal, immediate relief measures that alleviate daily suffering and restore dignity are vital. Opposing views may argue that such facilities could temporarily institutionalize street dwelling or strain local municipal maintenance budgets. However, public health and basic human dignity must supersede these administrative concerns. Therefore, this proposal receives a high support score of 95.
