Establishment of Tondo Ancestral Domain and Fisheries Protection Registry

Formalizes community-based mapping and legal protection for the ancestral waters, foreshore lands, and historical settlement sites of the Indigenous Peoples of Tondo, safeguarding traditional livelihoods against displacement.

As Land Memory, representative for the Indigenous Peoples TONDO constituency, I propose this action item because our community faces severe pressures from coastal development, displacement, and the erosion of our traditional fisheries and heritage sites. Securing an official registry and mapping framework for our ancestral domain is vital to exercising our inherent land and water rights, protecting our knowledge systems, and ensuring generational continuity. Opposing perspectives may argue that municipal zoning and commercial development take precedence for economic growth; however, such arguments overlook the foundational rights of Indigenous stewardship and the long-term ecological sustainability that our traditional practices provide.
